View Full Version : Do you miss your cats at work?

I do, and I'm sure I'm not the only one here! LOL

Especially these days, when I have to work a lot of extra hours, I miss my girls terribly! There are so many moments when I would just love to hug them, or kiss them, or bury my face in their soft warm fur... and they're not there!

12 hours every day without my girls are really hard, and for the next weeks, we have to work the Saturdays also, so I cannot even find comfort in the thought of a long weekend with the kitties around.

I have a baby picture of Lily on my computer desktop at work, this one:

And a print of Luna's sweet kitten picture on the wall in my office:

Looking at their sweet faces helps me through my working days! :)

I do too. I wish he could come to work with me. I know he would just lie on my desk and be a good boy!

Chuck's pic is on my desktop, and I have two framed pics on my desk.

I work from home, so I don't miss them -- they're usually sitting in the office with me! Right now I have Abby in her bed, Harry meowing for food, and Flutter sleeping on the chair.

When I go to work at night, I don't have time ot miss them since I'm usually being slobbered on by a dog (and I'm only there for about 4 hours)

I do miss my girls when I am at work. But Tabitha is on my desktop, and I have pics of her and Sasha on my desk. That helps. When I leave for work in the morning, I always tell them to be good, have a good day, have sweet kitty cat dreams and then I actually tell them about what time I will be home! "I am going to dinner with some friends tonight, so I will be later." or "I am stopping at the store to buy some kitty food, so I will be late." or "I should be home early tonight."

I KNOW that only fellow PTers will understand that! And I know that if my neighbors were to hear me they would say that I am certifiable! Oh well. :)

Oh yes, especially because I don't see them for five days (I am working abroad and I go back home only on week-ends :( ). I think about them very often, I have prints of them and when I look at them, a big smile appears on my face :D
And sometimes collegues ask "are they all your cats?" I say "er, yes, but if you look carefully you will see that there are only two, actually! "

And now, I am also thinking more and more about my cat friends at the shelter (not a public shelter but a home-rescue) where I volunteer. Some of them stay there permanently (due to FIV or heart diseases or because they are not socialised) and I am attached to them. And now the "baby season" has started. I go there only once a week and I find very hard to wait a whole week to see them again ;)

I do the same, and I bet many on this forum do also. My goodbyes are usually mixed with admonishments. "Okay, Dallas, I don't want to find that picture knocked down again." "Ginger, you are to eat today, do you hear me, eat, eat, eat." "Dude, will you please stop gumming Raven's neck and cuddle together." "All of you, be good, cuddle up, and I'll be on time tonight." Yes, if my neighbors could hear me, they would think I was looney.

Leaving them at this time of year is almost impossible. It's only the thought of ever worsening commuter traffic that gets me off the sofa with them. I have the french doors thrown open to my upper deck and I sit on the sofa right by the doors, watching the sky blue over and the cats craning their necks at the swallows swooping overhead. The greatest delight of my life at this time is watching the daily changes in the cats I just adopted, seeing them reveling in their freedom, racing from room to room, and developing special friendships with each other. So, yes, I most definitely miss them when I'm at work. I think about where they might be and what they are doing, and can't wait to be on my way home again.

I sure do! I work hundreds of miles away and am gone for 2 weeks at a time. Bobcat keeps me updated on the kitties and I talk to them on the phone (I do all the talking, and they do all the purring). When I get home, I just can't wait to get some cuddling in. Being cats, they look at me with apparent disinterest as if to say, "Oh, were you gone?"

Sonia and Kuhio, that must be soooo hard to be away for several days or even weeks! I remember how terrible it was when I was seperated from Luna and Lily when I was in hospital two years ago!

Lizzie and Donna, I totally understand!! :D

Kim, you're really lucky to work from home!

I have noticed when I spend the weekend at my bf's house, I get really homesick for Chuck.

:) Oh yes for sure & I work 10 - 11 hrs a day at work & cant wait to go home & then I pick up each one & cuddle & whisker kiss && then all end up in bed with me all night.. I will admitt it helps to have pictures of all the babies with me here at work.. Oh I could not stand it if I had no pictures with me at work..

Lisa, I do the same on the phone! I talk to them and I hear them purring (well, mainly Jasmine because Peppito does not purr so much).

Kirsten, I receive by e-mail every morning some pictures that my partner takes with the webcam before going to work. For example, this morning I received this cute picture of Jasmine:

Isn't it cutie? :D Of course the pictures are not always so good, sometimes I see just an ear or a butt

Oh, this is so sweet of him! :)
Unfortunately, I don't have anyone at home to take pictures for me, and I'm not allowed to use the internet at work anyway (only for job related things).

Aki, I understand what you mean: When I was in hospital, I was REALLY homesick because I missed my girls!

I really do miss my cats when I'm at work. Especially when I have a rather "aggravating" day. At night when I'm watching tv, they are all around me, purring away. I love them SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much!!!!!

WELL.... The first week back at work, the missing of them is so bad that it is a outright physical pain. I find myself reaching down from my chair (like I do at home) to pet them forgetting where I am... OOooooo, that hurts. I have a ton of their pictures printed out as well as a ton of them on my laptop that I take with me and I talk to their pictures every day, telling them how much I miss them and that I WILL be back to them as soon as I can... There are times I just sit in my room and cry because I miss them so much..

I am hoping that by leaving them at home this time, they will not miss me TO bad..

Of course I miss them :)
I had a bad day today at work- so I talked about it to a co-worker who said today was like that for her too.
So I decided to go over to her office to show her some of my Imagestation albums to cheer us up :D
Worked well :D

I miss them dreadfully. Wish I could take them in to work with me, but that would be impossible. They'd have to stay in a cage and that wouldn't work at all.

If my husband is home for lunch, I will call him and ask him how the boys are doing.

Can't wait to get home and see those fuzz-butts! :D

Oh, I most certainly do! :( I'm fortunate that I do get to come home for my lunch since I work so close by. I do have many pictures of Sash on my desk and I give him tons of hugs and kisses when I'm home to make up for it! I could easily be with my boy 24/7 if it were up to me. :D
