View Full Version : Please, prayers for my niece

I rarely request prayers on Pet Talk but since they work so well, I decided to come here and request your prayers.

I have a niece that is very near and dear to my heart. She is pregnant and in her 34th week. She is a type 1 diabetic and they have been monitoring her closely. Two weeks ago she developed pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure) and they immediately put her in the hospital for complete bed rest.

Now her protein levels are off the charts - and today they told her that they would induce labor - and for her to count on a 72 hour labor. Naturally she is scared - there are so many things for them to monitor. The baby will be six weeks early - and we are just praying that his lungs have developed enough.

Please, I ask for your prayers that she and her baby son will be just fine.

Thank you!!

Prayers on their way. I was 5 1/2 weeks early, and my older siblings were even earlier, so tell her there's plenty of hope for a good, healthy baby.

Well, I see that Phred has got the Prayer Line open so I just know that another miracle is about to happen. She and her son are in good hands.

You know that I've been talking to God about this every day and I truly wonder if He is getting sick of hearing from me. I can just hear Him saying "All right already, I got it. No problemo. It's taken care of....healthy baby boy on the way." ;) :D

Prayers are being sent.

I also thought of this saying, which I like: "I might as well give my problems to God - He's gonna be up all night anyway." :D

HUGS!

Gini,
I will say extra prayers tonight for your beloved niece. My wife had labor induced with our two girls and it was all rather quick (less than 8 hours) - but it may be very different because her baby is so premature. They may actually want to control it and extend it to 72 hours. Oh.. I hope and pray it all goes well for your niece and baby!!!

No news yet this morning. You see, I am the founder of WORRIES R US.........just give me your problem and I will worry over it to death for you!

Because she is a type 1 diabetic, she has had every possible complication in this pregnancy. On top of it all, her main Dr. that is a specialist has injured his back and he has been bedridden, but has called her every day.

Another of the ob/gyn's saw her numbers and totally freaked out - so the regular Dr. who is bedridden had to calm him down.

Because of the edema they have had her drinking a lot of water to flush her system and assist her kidneys. She said she had lost nine pounds in water alone. Richard was kind enough to tell me that a gallon of water weighs eight pounds. I never knew that.

I am so grateful for your prayers (Phred's prayer reduced me to tears) and I will let you know the good news when "he" arrives.

Wouldn't Mother's Day be a nice day to give birth to a son?

I HAVE A GREAT NEPHEW!!

My nephew (niece's brother) just called me. The baby was born by C section within the last hour and a half.

All I know at this point is that Bev and the baby are alright. The baby weighs seven pounds and is doing alright.

I don't know the name - any of the details - but that doesn't matter!

THANK YOU THANK YOU for all of your prayers.

My nephew and I agreed that we were both wound up tighter than ticks and both of us had stomach aches!

And this baby WAS born on Mother's Day - A Gift From God!!!

When I started to read the thread I tried to concentrate on the thought that today (differently from 20 years ago) 6 weeks must be manageable- and now I see that you are already a great auntie and your niece and the baby are ok :)

I'm so happy to hear that.

All of the congratulatory phone calls have been made........our family is quite wide spread - the Grandma is in Florida - the Grandpa is in Brazil - and the brand new parents live in Northern California.

It has been stressed that the first 24 hours are critical not only for Mom, but the baby too.

On a funny side note - the brand new Daddy is an attorney - his specialty is medical malpractice. I am sure the hospital knows that.

The other good news is that the new Mommy is a psychologist - and she works at the hospital facility where her son has been born. So everyone knows her and everyone will be inquiring after her.

Again, thanks for your prayers - I KNEW I should share this on Pet Talk!!

I am very grateful!♥♥♥♥

Congratulations on the birth of your grand-nephew. Yesterday one of my grand-nieces turned one year old and guess who forgot to send out a card? :o I'm mortified. Don't get old and forgetful like me, Gini. Next year, could you remind me that birthday time is coming up?;)

No news this morning - so that is good news!! I didn't sleep too well last night and every time I woke up I was thinking about Bev and her baby.

This beautiful young girl was 29 years old - a size 5 - a vegetarian - and ran 5 miles a day - and bammo - a full blown type one diabetic - at the age of 29. She has done such an incredible job managing this horrific disease. I have heard such horror stories about diabetic women having children. My neighbor that many Pet Talker's have met - is a diabetic. She has a daughter and carried her second child full term - but they "did something wrong" at the hospital - and her second child died. I believe it happened when they were administering the glucose to the baby. She has never gotten over that loss. However, she has a third child - a son.

So this may give you some groundwork to realize why I was so worried.

Karen - I'm not sure - but the baby will be a cousin - once removed? I never have figured that stuff out.

Rachel - I forgot my nephew's birthday this year and I too was mortified - ain't getting old grand?

Again, thank you for your prayers - I want to be sure to tell my niece that she had prayers coming in from all over the world - just for her and the baby.

Thanks so much to all of you for your continuing prayers.

My niece called me this morning at the crack of dawn. They had blocked all incoming and outgoing calls so she would get the rest she needs.

The baby seems to be taking after his Mom - reddish/blond hair - and blue eyes at least for now.

My niece is still having some problems which may take a week for her body to settle down...........high blood pressure and she is still swollen.

The babies name is COLIN KELLEY - how Irish is that? :D

I am a very grateful Auntie - Great or not so great! :)
