Welcome back, Carmen. We have missed you. What do you mean Frankie isn't doing well? Poor baby. Yes we need pictures of him and Beanie, and to hear more about how the baby is doing.

What's wrong with Frankie?
He was having knee trouble. :(

Hi,

Thanks for all of your replies.
We missed you too.

It wasn't exactly a vacation. It was a working vacation. :)
Worked during the day and had fun at night.

It's NOT Frankies knee. He's doing much better with that.
It hasn't popped out in a while.

It's his skin. I didn't mention anything because I felt like every time I posted it was something bad with Frankie.

He has a really bad skin condition and nooone seems to know what it is. We have been to 3 vets. I fired the first two because they told me straight out I don't know what we are dealing with.

The third, who seems a little more knowlegable was optimistic.
He changed his medication.

Frankie has been on meds/antibiotics for his skin since.... I want to say end of Feb...??? for this. It's just gotten worse with time. He has these round bumps about the size of a penny all over his underside.

He was treated for contact dermatitis and it's not that, no reaction to meds. He does not have demodex, he's been tested for it 4 times. He doesn't have ring worm, he's been tested for that too.

The last vet thinks it's a really resistant bacterial infection that turned into staph because he was not on the right meds. His skin has been looking a bit better in the last 2 weeks and he hasn't had anymore hair loss.

I need to give him a bath every couple of days with a special shampoo.

I will post pictures of these "red circles" as well tonight.

Hopefully, someone can identify what the hell they are.

I am due back to the vet with him Monday morning to see what the vets says. The last straw will be sarcoptic mange treatment, which he highly doubts it is because then we'd all have it by now at home (it's very contagious) and then allergy testing. This crap popped up right after the grass "woke up" but it could be a coincidence.... maybe food allergy...

I don't know.

Raustyk had what sounds like the same thing. 6 vets, 2 specialists and 4 years and still no one knew what they heck they were. She was tested for everything including allergies. No antibitic, cream, spray, shampoo etc... worked, or should I say worked by actually keeping the red bumps away. They always return VERY quickly once any form of treatment ended.
I switched her food (to Nutro NC) and that problem (and MANY more) dissapeared and have not returned. This was about 4-5 years ago.

EDITED to add that Raustyk did have the same looking bumps but her's were always only on her belly, they never protruded down her legs or the like.

Hey Carmen! We sure have missed you and the kids!

Happy Birthday to Frankie! Sorry to hear he's having some problems, I hope the vets find what it is soon :(

Frankie's skin thing sounds a lot like Micki. Micki gets really bad in the colder months and his whole belly ends up red and inflamed with the round circles. He always gets a cortisone (I think?) shot and it will clear up for a week or two but then come right back. We actually switched to Nutro NC a couple of months ago and he hasn't had any problems with it since, but I'm not sure if its related to the food switch since its getting warmer out too...

Glad to see you back! I was thinking about you all last week (being jealous actually, j/k :o ) wondering how your trip was going.

Poor Frankie, he does seem to keep those vets guessing, doesn't he? I hope they/you figure it out.

Can we get some Beenie pics too?
