I was living in a flithy petstore when my mom rescued me. I took one look at her and started screaming and throwing myself against the pexiglass, trying to get to her. She asked a lady to let me out, and I leapt into her arms and kissed her all over. She said I reminded her of the Bugs Bunny cartoon, where Bugs is kidnapped by Marvin the Martian and taken to Mars to be a pet for Marvin's big hairy alien monster. The monster said "I will name him George, and I will hug him and kiss him and squeeze him..." The petstore was going to put me to sleep, because they didn'y think I'd be adopted. My tail was cut off, and I was scrawny and sick. But Mom took me in, and now I'm very handsome! I am just a mix-breed, but I cost over $1000 in medical bills!

Domino was adopted from a farm, where she and her mom and siblings were fed(barely) on scraps, and had no shelter from the cold. She is very spoiled...if I weren't around to beat her up once in awhile, she'd be impossible to live with. She was named because she looks like she's wearing a little half mask, because she's black and white, and because of the little freckle on her nose. I wud have named her the Pipsqueak or The Rodent if it'd been up to me!

Then there is Skitter. She was found in a parking lot in February of 96. She was just a little kitten. Someone had stomped on her and crushed her insides. She had to have major surgery, and is still very sickly; she throws up all of the time. She was named for the way she'd skitter sideways like a crab, so her belly wouldn't drag the ground and hurt her. Four the first three years, she was kept locked in a tiny, windowless room, with no toys or anything to play with, and was left by herself for hours. When her owner moved away, my mom took her in. She doesn't meow much, or play, but she's stopped running away so much and lets mom pet her now.

Quick question, George: you are the magnificent Orange tabby; Domino is the black and white tux; is Skitter the torti?

I don't quite remember where I got my cat's names from but for many years I knew that as soon as I was living somewhere that I would be allowed cats I would have two and their names would be Sassafrass Root "Sassy" and Perspicacity "Cassy". Lo and behold, Sassy turned out to be a gorgeous silver DMH -- sort of looked like a light fluffy Russian blue and his litter mate Cassy is a silver swirl tabby (DSH). Cassy looks just like a male version of his birth mother (broader chested and stronger bone structure). Life with the boys was a real joy. Eventually Cassy revealed that his full name is Perspicacity Purrsonality. Unfortunately we did not realize that Sassy had a heart defect and he died suddenly during a nap a little over a year ago. Cassy and I grieved intensely. About that time my father was very ill and developed an allergy to their cat, Olivia. Olivia and Cassy were buddies and I couldn't bear to let her out of our lives so she came to live with us. She is a glamerous brown tabby; we think she is part Maine Coon. Once she settled in, she informed me her real name is Lady Olivia d'Flufferuni. The poor kid usually gets called Livvy. She enjoys her life with us and has a charming young male pen-pal romance going here on Pet Talk with Oliver.

We hope to see a lot of you and your sisters here. Welcome to Pet Talk!

Yep-you got it! Especially the part about me being magnificent! You are obviously very observant, for a human!

Thank you for the warm welcome-we really like it here! My mom and I usually post at Petsmart's Acmepet Cat's Window. Someone posted a link to this board, so we explored it-it's very nice!

Sorry to hear about your sad story, but I am very glad to hear that you have all got good homes now :) Wonderful pictures too! Oh and George, it doesn't matter if you're "just a mix-breed"; you are still a beautiful and wonderful cat!

Oliver got his name from the main character in the Disney movie Oliver & CO.
