I was channel surfing and found a show called The Pet Shop. Today it was about birds. He had beautiful parrots and all types of birds. Anyway, I learned things I didn't know. Since I don't own a bird I thought they were very interesting. I thought I'd just share them.
1. You can tell what month a bird was born in by when the molt. They always molt in the month they were born. If we could only get them to tell the year also..
2. Birds should be misted at least once a day with warm water. (The air above them is misted, not the birds themselves.) This helps them preen. It also keeps the air humid. Since they are from a humid climate originally it helps keep their feathers healthy.
3. What a bird eats can affect the colors of their feathers.

Wow those are some pretty interesting facts! I never knew about any of them! Right now I have a pair of zebra finches. Maybe I should watch them more closley;) :p

I was SO tempted to get this little parakeet at Orscheln's today! It's a white female with an aqua breast. SOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE!
