My Aunt Betty died September 24 of 2005...she also was 86, two weeks short of 87.

She never married or had kids, but doted on her nine nieces and nephews and their kids.

She died in her sleep, on moving day - my cousins were staying over to help her.

She has left a hole in our lives...Aunt Betty was just always going to be there, you know?

so...I am not trying to hijack, just to say I really understand what you mean.I hope Ed and Betty are talking up a storm about all us young 'uns... :)

HUGS to you, all you need.

I'm so sorry for you loss. :( It's really hard losing a relative. My family has a history of longevity. My Dad passed at 91, my Grandmother passed at 98, my Grandfather passed at 92 and my Mom who will soon be 82 is healthier than I am.

Talk to him.....he will hear everything you have to say.

I am so sorry for your loss. Cherish all of your fond memories of him and pass on those wonderful memories to younger members of your family so that he will live in their hearts too.

If you can, you might think about sitting down and writing a journal about him. Put in writing all of the things that you loved about him and a few stories to go with it.

I had an Uncle who wrote things he remembered about his Aunts and Uncles.
In particular he wrote about an Aunt and what wonderful pumpkin pies she made. Somehow reading that made her come alive for me - as someone that I wished I had known. I think she is pleased that she is remembered in such a loving way.
