Please think of my grandfather - the one I posted about turning 90 last Saturday. He had a stroke, is conscious but lost feeling to his left side. My dad just came and picked my mom and I up from work and we may be heading up there.

The doctors are evaluating him so we don't know anything from them yet. We will in about 15 minutes.

Please, please, please think of us.

Here is my favorite picture from his 90th.

Kay, there are a lot of things that can be done for stroke victims and lots of different degrees of strokes. He could live many good years beyond this.

I hope and pray for the best Kay Ann. My great aunt had a stroke and lost feeling on one side, and after some rehab and physical therapy, is now living on her own again. :)

I'm so sorry Kay. I hope he gets better soon. My Grandma had a stroke in 1999. It did a lot of damage, but she lived for 4 more years after that. We were always close, but we got so much closer in those 4 years. She had bad days and some really good days too. My prayers are with you.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts.

From what I know he didn't have a stroke, but a TIA, a transient ischemic attack. It is often called a mini-stroke and a warning sign for a serious stroke. He has had other cases where he has had symptoms of a TIA but they've never called it that before.

Anyways, when I visited him he acted completely like usual, talking and everything. He had full motion - and was very hungry!
As he told me he was sitting down ready to go downstairs for lunch (he and my grandma Rose live in an apartment type thing for seniors), his arm got really numb and it fell off the armrest of his chair. He couldn't lift it so he lifted it with his other arm and it fell again. He had my grandma call 911.

They brought him in some food just as we were leaving, I helped him and open up his utensils - opened up the iced tea they brought him, hugged him, told him to never scare us again and said goodbye.

Whew! Glad it wasn't a "real" stroke, and that he has full range of motion. There's nothing like a Grandpa hug, huh?

Ditto! So glad to hear he's ok, and hope they can find what's causing these "episodes" and possibly put an end to them to you don't have to have the tar scared out of you anymore! ;)

Hi,
I just saw this. I'm sorry your grandad scared you all. From what I understand, he is better. I hope he continues to do well.
Tell him next time he wants a visit from you to just call and say so and not scare you like that! ;)

What a terrible scare for you. But as I read through the posts I am glad to see that he has full motion and is much better.

But just in case, some extra prayers will be added for your Grandpa.

What a scare this must have been  !
I am so glad to hear that he is already getting better. Maybe he will have to take things easier in the future; the body doesn't give a "warning" when it isn't necessary :( .
Hugs for you, Kay :)

Thanks again everyone. My family and I really appreciate your thoughts.

He is still in the hospital waiting for the results of all his tests. MRI and some others. Today they out dye in his IV to see if it's being blocked anywhere. They've been saying this every morning since he's been there but, he SHOULD be home tomorrow morning/noonish.

I sure hope so because I know he'll feel a lot better when he's out of there.
