The sheltie that I was getting is turning out to be cowhocked. :( This means he isn't going to a show/working home, and I do both. I'm very sad, but atleast I have new plans.

Marla (Visa's breeder) has decided to breed Visa afterall. So Visa will be bred in July. She's getting her CERF on April 1st when we go to Kamloops for a sanction show and sanction obedience trial, and we'll get her hips done sometime after that. I'm getting pick male, Marla is getting pick female. I'm thinking of the name Attra Dea's Run For Your Life, "Havoc" or "Panic," both good names for a Belgian lol. After Visa is bred, she will be put into my name and I will no longer co-own. Marla would like for me to continue breeding Belgians, but I don't think so. Maybe sometime in the future I would like to have a high drive litter for working homes and the RCMP, but I don't know yet. I will stud my male if he passes his health certifications and is a good example of the breed though -- he will make an excellent addition to Marla's breeding program, I hope.

Anyways, just thought I'd let you all know. I'm on my way to getting the internet so I can update more often. :) I'm posting pictures in a bit.

Oh, and about the catahoula -- I don't know the details, but something was wrong with the litter and the puppies were dying. The last I heard, only two were left alive. :( This means the catahoula is out too, as there were others on the waiting list before me. Another year, another dog I suppose.

First of all, sorry that both the Catahoula and the Sheltie didn't work out.

Congrats, though, on Visa's breeding! How neat to get one out of your baby. Is Visa staying with you for the whelping or will she go back to the breeder?

Thanks! :) I'm not too sure if I'll have her for the whelping, but if I do, her and the puppies will eventually be moved to Marla's. My house is just too quiet for a Belgian litter lol. Marla has so many people and kids living with her and other dogs, it's almost too chaotic, and that's what the puppies need. I'll be sad, but I'll still get to see Visa all the time, and I'm borrowing her niece, Jaguar, to train and socialise her when Visa is gone anyways, so atleast I'll still have a dog to work with. Marla said she will keep Visa on raw for me, so the puppies will be nice and healthy. :) I wouldn't want her to be switched off anyways.

Ohhh congrats! Looks like I'll have to make a trip up to Canada to visit some puppies :D

To bad about the catahoulas and shelties though.

CONGRATS! Visa will be a good mum i'm sure! my friend i go to shows with had two belgians for a while. they both busted adult teeth out of their knuckle heads and could no longer be shown. they are in pet homes now.

i think Belgians are BEAUTIFUL dogs! i never got too into the breed because of their shy temperments. definatly a momma only dog!lol

I hear ya --- I'm going to make sure this puppy never turns out shy. I'm hoping he'll be like his grandmother. Spirit loves EVERYONE! Marla says she thinks there's some lab in there lol. But Visa is definatly shy -- genetics didn't do it to her, she just wasn't socialised enough, but nevertheless. Definatly a *special* breed lol.
