Aquariums? Like maybe a 2.5 gallon? My mom wants my future betta to live in a GOLDFISH bowl...and I refuse to get one if that's what she wants..Sooo I figured to ask PT. A filter would be nice, and Errr..I'm a bit broke, but I will pay for it :).

The only suggestion I have for you is to wait until YOU can afford it. If you know what's best for this betta, you won't let it live in a small goldfish bowl and YOU will raise the money to get the proper tank. I'm sorry.

Petsmart sells a nice 2.5 gallon tank for $9.95. It's just the tank and a glass lid, but it's nice I have one for my frogs. They also sell a 1 gallon with a light and filter for around $12. Both are inexpensive, see if your mom will let you do extra chores for some cash.

Unless there is someone in your area it would cost more to ship a small aquarium then what it's actually worth.

Yeah...Do you happen to have a link to the 2.5 gallon at Petsmart? I'm sure I have a TAD bit of cash, and that maybe I can do something for chores.

I don't see it on the website, but this is what it looks like. I got it two months ago at Petsmart, and i always see them in stock. You can call and see if your nearest petsmart has it in stock. I added a small filter to it, but you don't need one for a betta.

Ooh I like it. It's only 9.99? And...does it have any lights or anything?

It does not come with the light. It's just the tank and glass lid. They do sell lights, I think they are around $10. But it really isn't something that you need. You can do something like what i did and just have a small lamp next to the tank.

If you really must have a light and filter then I like these 1 gallon tanks. I have one very similar for my betta and he's happy and healthy. However I removed the underground filter because he doesn't really need and it gives him more room to swim around.

Yes I do have extra aquariums. I'm not sure how many gallons they are... and they aren't really nice bcause we got them at auctions.

I have an old betta aquarium but I have no idea how I would get it to you because it would probably cost as much to ship it as to buy a new one. Let your mom know that whatever you get has to have a lid 'cause they're jumpers. :)

Yup! Devon told me that :p. I want this one betta from a Betta breeder online, but he's $15 + $30 shipping. He is absolutely stunning though, and I'm trying really hard to get $45.

You don't want a filter if its for a betta. Bettas do better in tanks without filters. Sometimes the water disturbance stresses them out.

EDIT: But honestly though if you go to Walmart they have cheap tanks.. I know their 15 gallon aquariums were like $10 when I got mine a year or so ago.

I found one at Walmart for $7.84! Here is a link to it...

I heard those were way too small for a betta.

I just read about it now. They say anything over 1 gallon is better for a Betta. That little aquarium is only 1/2 gallon?! :D

Yeah..! I was thinking more along the lines of something like Uabassoon's tank for her betta. :)

1/2 Gallon is too small for a betta to be happy in.

I got my old betta a tank from Petsmart for about $12. I can't find it on their website, but I'll look harder later. You could also use a Keep-a-Critter (or whatever those things are called). It is basically a plastic carrying case that people use for small animals and the lid has vents in it. I know many people use it for bettas since they don't require a filter. They are pretty cheap, about $5 I think.

I would probably suggest getting it at petsmart or wherever is cheaper. It will cost alot to ship the tank I have... (i forgot about the sipping price) so it's cheaper just to buy one at a store.

Yep, they work well and are 1 gallon. I have 2 of mine in them and they are perfectally happy!
I got mine at Wal-Mart, put some rocks in the bottom and a couple of silk plants and maybe spent $10 for each of them.

I seen the betta you want and it is gorgeous. I guess it all depends on what you want to spend money on the most, stuff for the tanks or the betta:)

The betta! :o But I know that that little guy will get a great home. So I'm going to rescue a Betta from Petsmart, so it won't have to live in a cup the rest of its life :).

Petsmart has 2 gallon plastic "drum" bowls things for $3 that I saw and thought, "I could keep a betta in there!"

also I like the round SmallWorld Round Tanks (http://www.pennplax.com/Pages/Aqua.pages..../Aqua27F.html) things from Penn Plax (medium or large, not the one it says bettas should go in, that's like 1/2 gallon). I think Petsamrt does not carry them but Petco does. Or you could call local places and ask them if they carry them. They are round and that is so cool, I just thought the betta would be really happy in a round tank.

My grandma kept her Betta in a vase like thing.. he lived for 5 years. Betta's don't need huge tanks like goldfish.. nor do they need filters! :)
