I had just finished watching March of the Penguins and I guess Riley decided she really didn't enjoy watching penguins, so she improvised and did her best polar bear impersonation:

(Sorry the pictures are so bad. I only had time to grab my phone, and not the real camera.)

It started off innocent enough watching T.V. and her penguin toy, not in the picture.

Then she made her way and pretended not to be interested in the actual target:

Went in for the quick grab and roll:

When that didn't work, she resorted to crazy shaking:

Which quickly turned into flinging:

And catching of the flung penguin:

However, after an overly excited fling, the penguin managed an escape:

She wasn't happy that I was posting these, so she made sure I wasn't degrading her hunting abilities, and she approved of the post:

Thanks for reading.

No penguins were harmed in the making of this thread. Riley sends her deepest apologies for anyone offended by her actions in the failed penguin hunt.

Also, someone asked in another post what mix Riley was, so rather than bump that one up, I’ll answer here. When we rescued her, the staff of the humane society told us her dad was a blue merle aussie. We’re assuming the other majority is golden retriever with possible shepherd and other blends. She’s a true Heinz 57.

I'll try to post more picturs of her! ;) She's still at my parents house although she has stayed a few weekends at mine. I just don't trust my house with all the construction that we're doing; there's too much for her to get into. The other issue now is that my parents are beyond attached to her, so it'll be interesting to see what happens when that time comes. I sense custody battle, although we live about a 2 min. drive apart ;) .

What a great hunter, good job Riley. You just must remember not to toss the prey away when done. ;) And it is always a good idea to see what your human is posting about you, a girl can never be too careful. She really is beautiful Craig, and I can understand how neither you nor your parents would want to give her up on a permanent basis. :)

How could someone as adorable and innocent-looking as her be an evil penguin hunter!! Or maybe its not her thats evil, maybe the penguins are the ones that are evil!! ;)

Riley is adorable and would make a great penguin hunter.
BTW - There are no polar bears in March of the Penguins because polar bears do not live in Antarctica.

oops! Edited because I originally said there were no penguins in March of the Penguins. Don't know where my mind was.

Thank you ll for the nice comments. It's fun to catch her doing silly stuff, but it's hard to have a camera ready. I'll pass the comments along to her ;)

kuhio98, you are very correct and I thought about that too. I was trying to stick with a 4 legged critter, but to be accurate she'd have to be an Orca or seal, or possibly a bird. I should have picked something else, but she reminded me of a bear for some reason. My bad on the wrong info. I wish there were penguins in the norther hemisphere :)

Me too! I live in Alaska and people are always asking me about penguins. They don't believe me when I tell them that they don't live at the North Pole. I sure wish they did. They are sooooo cute!
