I received this in an email from a friend today. Has anyone heard of this??? I googled it and found quite a few references to this and that it works great. I will try it as soon as I buy some quart size ziploc bags. Please post if you try it OK? :)

ZIPLOC OMELETS

Have guests write their name on a quart-size Ziploc freezer bag with
permanent marker.

Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2)
shake to combine them.

Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, mushrooms, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc. (What ever you would like)

Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shakes it.

Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up.

Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes.
You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot.

For more, make another pot of boiling water.

Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily.

Be prepared for everyone to be amazed!

Yup!! All the time!!!! :D :D We call them omelets in a bag ;) When we go camping in Scouts its one of our favorite breakfasts, and really easy.

The best part is, it can be a completely utensil-less meal if you eat your omelete on a tortilla shell. :D

Hehehe.. I just HAD to make one for the pups when I did mine.
Surely A LOT easier then making them in a pan (especially if you have to do more than one.) I didn't eat it all because i'm coming down with the same cold I had in January and it hurts to swallow. The part I did eat was very good, next time i'm adding butter.

What a great idea! Another cooking trick...

Grilled cheese sandwiches.

Prepare a cheese sandwich as if you were going to fry it in a pan. Wrap it in aluminum foil. Take your iron and put it on high with NO STEAM. Iron it on the sides and VOILA

Grilled cheese sandwich!!! No pan to have to clean, just toss the aluminum foil out!

Steamed Cheese?

:D I love this thread! Anytime you can cook for six people and only boil water in a pan, I'm all for it! moosmom, i did have a pretty good chuckle when I read yours. I HAVE to try that, just to see it for myself!
