Bella, like most pet rats, is a very social being. She is very
affectionate and prefers being out of her habitat and in the company of
humans. Bella will give you little kisses on your nose if you give her a
'raspberry' kiss (blow gently on her skin). Bella enjoys snack time and
enjoys a variety of fresh foods.
Bella is the always the first rat to greet us at the door when we visit
our rat habitats. She lives with her sister, Foebe. Foebe has fur and
sometimes we wonder what Bella thinks about that ... or what Foebe
thinks about Bella not having any!
We adopted Bella and her sister from a loving family who could no longer
keep her. She was already well handled when we got her and very
comfortable with humans. She enjoys spending time on the couch with us
while we watch TV. She also likes to play hide-and-go-seek under the
blankets and covers of a bed. It is important that she have plenty of
free roam time around the humans. Bella enjoys "fishing for peas" - a
"sport" popular with many rats. Fishing peas entails a bowl of water
with fresh or frozen peas floating in it. Bella enjoys "fishing them
out" with her little hands and splashing around in the water. Bella can
be a little bit bossy with the other rats as she is a real
attention-grabber. She likes the spotlight.
