Beto, the Pet of the Day
Name: Beto
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Kind: Caribbean Hermit Crab
Home: Alpharetta, Georgia, USA

Beto is my nickel-sized Caribbean Hermit Crab. When I adopted him, he was living in a shell far too big for him. However, he soon moved into a new mobile home more his size. He was also missing half a leg, a piece of his big pincher, and an antenna. This does not seem to affect him much, though, because he is very active!

One of his favorite games is redecorating the crabitat. This is where he digs under the food bowl and flips it over, drags off the gravel from inside the water bowl and buries it, and hauls around the other shells in the crabitat (some many times his size) and leaves them where he pleases. He is a very lovable little guy and very entertaining to watch. We are looking forward to his next molt when he will regenerate all his missing limbs!

P.S. - You can also see Beto and his two brothers (Rodrigo and Alonzo) in their hermit disco.
