Our
six-month-old sable ferret, Belle, weaseled her way into our
hearts. When I come home from work, she's always greets me with her
front paws and nose on the cage door, waiting to get cuddled and give
kisses. Belle loves to shoot through her 25-foot flexible tube. A
demur little minx, she chases cats, dogs, and people, always asking
to play with her ferret war dance.
She's a good housekeeper. I know exactly where to look for stray
paper towels, tissues, and little toys. She takes them all to
"her" corner, beside the sofa in our den.
A traveler, Belle rides in the car with ease. She goes to the park
and shopping mall. Adults and children, alike "ooh" and
"ahh," when they see her. She's always willing to receive a
stroke from a stranger.
Her winning ways convinced us to adopt a big, two-year-old albino
ferret named Snoopy, from a ferret shelter (Snoopy is a pet
extraordinaire in his own right). The two of them are still working
out their differences. Belle loves to watch Snoopy from the safety of
"Mom's" or "Dad's" lap. Belle's a sweetheart.
